Lakes are colossal bodies of deep water, they are much bigger than rivers, and can contain isolated structures such as island prisons, lighthouse islands, etc. best accessed via boat, or by fish mutants.

While rich in fish, water and occasional structures, lakes can also, rarely, contain dangerous monsters such as the dreaded jawed terror.
