Physically, you will become invincible to anything but a shotgun in your face, with minimal drawbacks. Who needs doctors and bandages anyway? Mentally, you will get rather unstable, however; don't let cockiness get the better of you.

The Medical, Alpha, Elf-A, Slime, and Troglobite mutation trees share a strong advantage over the others - none of their mutations change your anatomy in ways that prevent wearing the powerful end-game armors.

The threshold mutation of this category is called Prototype ingame.

Notes

  • If you are feeling unlucky with other mutations, or you want to make do with an easy to adapt to mutation tree, this is the mutation for you, you can also start with this if you want a chance at getting good mutation with the other mutation categories by mutating Robust Genetics.
  • You can still die, but you have absolutely no pain to suffer anymore, or even get pleasure from the pain.
  • You are also immune to infections and low immunity diseases, so you can fight zombies much more often with your painless abilities.
  • If you started as a Flimsy, Frail or Fragile character, the Resilient trait can actually override these low health traits and replace them, goodbye low HP, hello wonderful resilience!
  • As Deadened prevents any pain at all, and Cenobite doesn't penalise stats for pain, one can easily run away at their full speed if they feel like their HP is low.
    • Since Deadenened mutation prevents any pain at all it is possible to get killed while asleep.
  • Medical mutants have a very good edge during summer, as with their lack of pain to feel, they can fight zombies and scavenge cities when low armoured to even nude and not get too hot...
