Gameplay Mods

From The Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The base game comes with various mods that change the behaviour of the game. Most of the mods are pretty straightforward and the ingame documentation will describe what it does. But we still have a place on the wiki for various mods.

Mods which are included on the wiki

This does not mean that all the information of the mod is listed on the wiki, just that we have some information on the mod. It might be out of date, or very incomplete. As always, if you can help us out with more information about the mod, please do.

Obsolete mods

Some mods are listed as obsolete in the game, and cannot be used while playing. The reasons they are obsolete is probably because they are no longer maintained by anybody, and nobody has stepped up trying to keep them up to date.

If you want to continue playing with mods that have been obsoleted, you need to go into data/mods and find the specific folder for the mod you want to edit, edit modinfo.json, and just remove the line for "Obsolete: true"

(See this table to know which mods are obsolete, this will be out of date in the future so don't trust it 100%)

Keep in mind any bugs you experience from this will not be accepted on the issue page as these mods are obsolete, and they will be removed if they do not find a maintainer so back it up if you really like these mods.

Externally hosted mods

''WARNING'' These mods are hosted externally and the wiki is not responsible for wrong information or malicious content on these pages. Always be careful installing third party content. Don't blame us if something from these links breaks your saves, doesn't work, or steals all your bitcoins. You have been warned!

Parts of this are from the Positronic-Girl's - Cata-Mods modlist, go to this github page for a more up to date list.

''COGNITOHAZARD WARNING '' No idea what kind of content goes into all of these mods, expect them to be NSFW, or even not safe at all.

Soundpacks

As of this writing, Cataclysm does not come with a single built-in set of built-in music and sound effects. However, various collections ("soundpacks") have been created. Some of these are linked below. To hear much more than basic sound, a soundpack will need to be downloaded, decompressed if distributed in a .zip file, and stored in a directory in the data/sound directory. For Cataclysm players on certain platforms, there is a Windows launcher and a Linux launcher which can download some of these.

Soundpacks last updated 2023 or later

Older soundpacks

  • CO.AG Soundpack. As of this writing, copyright-clean under CC-BY. The author states that the focus of this soundpack is music and recommends combining this with @'s soundtrack for that soundpack's sound effects.
  • @'s Soundpack - Based on 2ch soundpack.
  • Otopack - Based on @'s soundpack. As of this writing, contains copyright-infringing music from various sources, including 1984, Ghost in the Shell, Vampire: The Masquerade, 28 Days Later, Dead Rising, Fallout, Fallout 2, and King's Field.

Even older soundpacks

Forks

C:DDA started out as a fork of whalesdev's Cataclysm. Thus, it is no suprise that C:DDA has also been forked. Here are some of those forks; while this wiki is for C:DDA, a lot of the information will also apply to these forks:
